Every second year, the International Federation of Student Unions (FISU) organizes the “FISU Forum” seminar.
The purpose of the seminar is to bring together all national student sports federations for discussions, experience transfer and networking.
Through lectures, workshops and project work, a common direction is set for international student sports.
This year’s theme was University Sports: Creating a Better World.
Through NSI’s international leadership practice, Marie Øien (head of Lillehammer Studentidrett) participated after applying earlier this summer.
In addition, NSI was represented by Mathias Tønnessen (Board of Directors), Sofus Rasmussen (NSI’s administration) and Amalie Husby (President).

“Diversity and Inclusion” and “Sport diplomacy”

Throughout the five days, different perspectives on international student sport were discussed.
The sub-themes of the conference were Diversity inclusion and Sport diplomacy.
A total of 250 participants from over 50 different nations attended the conference, which was held at the University of Zagreb.
We heard from NBA profile Damjan Rudez, Olympic winner Martin Sinkovic and Lebanese sprint star Aziza Sbaity, among others.

Culture and social

In addition to a good academic program, a lot of social activities were organized during the week’s seminar.
There were both sports from kl.
06.00 every morning and a separate cultural tour through Zagreb’s old town.
In keeping with tradition, the “FISU Fair” was also arranged, where each country is allocated a stand where they showcase their own culture through, for example, clothing, food, dance and more.
We thank you for a great event and congratulate our Swedish sister organization SAIF with the award of FISU Forum 2026.
We are looking forward to it! Marie, Mathias, Sofus and Amalie
